The DEIR proposes and evaluates two alternatives to the Moss Landing desalination facility:

North Marina Project

  • Desalination facility utilizing beach well intakes

Monterey Regional Water Supply Project -- a portfolio of water projects including:

Phase I (see Section 5.1.4  of the DEIR)

  • Conservation
  • Sand City Desalination Facility
  • Seaside Basin Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR)
  • Regional Urban Water Augmentation Project (RUWAP) Utilizing Recycled Water
  • Salinas River Diversion and Surface Water Treatment
  • Regional Desalination Facility and Distribution System

Phase II (see Section 5.3 of the DEIR)

  • Pacific Grove Stormwater Collection and Treatment Project
  • Salinas River Diversion Facility Expansion
  • Castroville Seawater Intrusion Project (CSIP) Expansion
  • Regional Desalination Expansion
  • Seaside Groundwater Basin Replenishment Project
  • Seaside Basin ASR Expansion II
  • Salinas Basin Groundwater for North Monterey County
